// Home district

Angelika enters a room the way a good bass line enters a song, quietly and then all at once. She is 172 cm, athletic from years on the tennis court, with long black hair worn straight and brown eyes that settle on you before she speaks. Her wardrobe favours easy glamour over anything fussy: a slip dress in ink blue, flat gold earrings, a light jacket she will shrug off at the first warm bar. Mid twenties on paper, she handles an evening with the ease of a much older hand.

Confidence is the first thing people notice and playfulness the second. She teases gently, never at your expense, and enjoys being teased back. Conversation happens in English, fluent and unhurried, and it drifts most happily towards contemporary art, where she holds firm views on which galleries hang work well, and towards jazz, which she prefers live, close and slightly too loud. Tennis keeps her early mornings honest. Elegance, for Angelika, is less about the dress than about never glancing at a phone during dinner.

Her Soho evening has a shape she likes to repeat. She collects you from your W1 hotel early enough for one drink upstairs, then leads you round to Ronnie Scott's, the Frith Street jazz institution, in time for the later show, when the room is warm and the regulars have claimed their corners. She knows to sit where the sound is best rather than where the view is, and she keeps quiet during the solos. Afterwards Frith Street is still wide awake, and the walk back takes exactly as long as you want it to.

She lives in Mayfair, a ten minute cab ride from the Soho door, so a same evening request from seven is realistic. Read the full ladder on the rates page, then send her name to booking and the host will hold her table.

04 · The evening

An evening with Angelika

Her ideal version starts at twenty to nine, a gin and tonic in the hotel lounge and a short argument about which painter deserves the next big retrospective. By half past she has you walking down Greek Street, past the queues, towards the music. She likes the later show because the musicians have loosened up and the room has stopped performing for itself. She orders something light, listens properly, and leans over between numbers with a comment worth hearing.

Near midnight the plan becomes yours. A late plate at a counter on Old Compton Street, a slow loop through Soho Square, or straight back to the room with the curtains drawn. Angelika is content with any of them, provided nobody checks their messages at the table.

// In her words

Arriving a little early and ordering for both of us. Five minutes of that and nobody feels like a stranger any more, including me.

The late one, always. The band has warmed up, the day trippers have gone home, and the room belongs to people who actually came to listen.

Art over dinner, tennis over breakfast. If you know nothing about either, even better, because then I get to convert you slowly.
