Ten hours in W1, from the last bar through to breakfast
An overnight is ten hours and £1,800. It usually begins somewhere between ten and midnight, which in Soho is not late at all, and runs through to the morning. It is the one booking the house asks you to write ahead rather than send at two in the morning, because ten hours has to be carved out of somebody's week rather than found at the end of it.
The figure is the whole of it. Travel inside Zones 1 and 2 is already counted, the hours are not itemised, and nothing else is added at any point. Whatever you have read elsewhere about night bookings, the card here is the same card everybody else on the guest list is on.
Suited to Overnights
Ladies the host suggests most often for this kind of evening. Any name on the list can be asked for.
What ten hours actually covers
A realistic overnight is a last drink somewhere quiet, the walk back, a few hours of genuine conversation and then sleep, followed by a morning that nobody rushes. Guests who book their first one expecting ten hours of performance have misunderstood the arrangement and usually say so afterwards. What the length buys is the absence of a clock. Nobody checks a watch, nobody is ordering a car at one in the morning, and the evening is allowed to become an ordinary night rather than an appointment.
The deposit on a night booking
Overnights are held with half the fee in advance by bank transfer rather than the usual quarter, and where any part of that covers travel it cannot be refunded once it has been spent. That is not a wall, it is simply what holding ten hours of somebody's week honestly costs. The remaining half is cash on arrival or a second transfer beforehand, whichever you would rather. The host says all of this plainly at the point of booking, and it is written out again on the card.
Where overnights happen
Hotel rooms in W1D and around Piccadilly Circus take most of them, and the small houses off Wardour Street are better suited to a night booking than their size suggests, since a quiet room and a decent bathroom matter more at three in the morning than a grand lobby does. Private flats are equally fine. What the host will ask is whether the address is somewhere you can both sleep properly, because a ten hour booking in a room with a sofa bed and thin walls is nobody's idea of an overnight.
Morning, and how it ends
The ten hours end when they end, and she leaves without ceremony. Most guests order breakfast up rather than go down for it, though there is nothing stopping you walking out into a Soho that is still half asleep and finding coffee on Old Compton Street. If you want her gone before you wake, say so the night before and it is arranged without the slightest awkwardness. If you want the morning to run longer, that is agreed at the card rate and depends on her day.
Names written into night bookings
Michelle is 173 cm, warm and completely unbothered by a late start. Patricia has long auburn brown hair and the sort of calm that suits a long night. Danielle is twenty nine, dark and easy company in the small hours. Nora is honey blonde, athletic and the one most likely to still want breakfast. All four take night bookings regularly rather than as an exception, which is the useful thing to know, and three of them also appear under curvaceous or toned on the styles pages.
The honest version about sleep
People do sleep on overnights, both of them, and an agency that implies otherwise is selling you something it cannot deliver. She will be there for ten hours as company, at dinner if that is where it starts, through the bar afterwards, and in the morning. Fees are for time and companionship only, which is true at ten hours exactly as it is true at one. Anybody uncomfortable with that plain wording is better served booking two hours first and seeing how the evening feels.
Overnights, asked at the door
Short, plain answers. Anything else, the host takes by message at any hour.
A day or two is comfortable and the same week is usually fine. Same night overnights do happen, but the list of names available shrinks considerably after about nine in the evening.
Yes. The ten hours can begin whenever suits you, including at eight with dinner inside them. Tell the host the start time and the hours simply run from there.
Because ten hours is most of somebody's night and cannot be resold at short notice. Half by bank transfer holds it, the travel element of that is non refundable, and the balance is settled on arrival.
It is if you want it, in the sense that the morning hours are yours to spend however you like. The cost of the breakfast itself is settled with the hotel in the ordinary way.
